Creation and Redemption-VI
Description

Preacher: Albert Sinyigaya | Series: Creation and Redemption

This teaching is the sixth in a series on creation and redemption series. It follows the  fifth in these series and looks at the cross of Jesus Christ that reconciled us with the Father. When the curtain tore in the temple as Jesus expired on the cross, something glorious happened as a new door to commune with God was opened that had not been available upto that time. These series are a comprehensive teaching on the fall, sin, redemption, and glory.

ATONEMENT OPENS THE DOOR

  1.  In our studies today we will begin exploring God's redemptive work. We had seen that in the fall sin entered the world and a major consequence of that was death. But Jesus brought resurrection.

  1.       We had also seen that not everyone actually died as Enoch and Elijah were translated to heaven without died. They are people who were known to be full of faith and had close fellowship with God. We saw that in New Testament we have greater privilege since Jesus entered heaven.
  2.       The atonement of Christ through His death on the cross made it possible. Fellowship was broken in the fall but God longed to bring us back. Thankfully, through the cross of Christ, we were reconciled with the Father. Without the atonement, intimate fellowship wouldn't be possible.
  3.       The song "Beneath The Cross of Jesus" by Elizabeth Clephane illustrates this. Speaking of Jacob's ladder of the Genesis she writes: As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given, so seems my Savior's cross to me a ladder up to heaven.
  4.       The cross is a ladder to heaven. Therefore, if we want to ascend to the mount of God and desire to walk with God in close fellowship, the cross is the right place to start. This is why we need to explore the redemptive work of Christ before we can fully explore the fellowship that the Lord has called us into.
  5.       Christ's redemptive work was actually prophesied in Genesis 3 as soon as Adam and Eve had sinned and fell in the garden of Eden. It was the prophecy that God gave them that the seed of the woman would crush Satan's head even though Satan would bruise his heel.
  6.       Many things were accomplished through the cross. Jesus reconciled us with the Father (2 Corinth 5:19). Satan also lost his grip on humanity.
  7.       " And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. "-Colossians 2:15
