Creation and Redemption-III
Description

Preacher: Albert Sinyigaya | Series: Creation and Redemption

This teaching is the third in a series on creation and redemption series. It follows the second in these series and looks at death as the most serious consequence of the fall. It also looks at the resurrection of Lazarus as a forestate of the promise of Christ, that life and immortality are ours through the Gospel. These series are a comprehensive teaching on the fall, sin, redemption, and glory.

RESURRECTION PROMISED

1.  As we continue our creation and redemption studies, we will look one more time as the first major consequence of the fall, death and its solution in redemption, the resurrection brought by Jesus Christ.

2.  Death is by far the most significant consequence of the fall and if an unbeliever who denies God's existence, His creation, and His verdict about the fall of man were to argue that this is easily solvable by science, he would soon encounter many problems that humanity has learned.

3.  So far Jesus Christ is the only man to die and rise from the dead and 2000 years later He is still alive. Nobody else has achieved that feat. Even the people that Jesus resurrected during his ministry on earth, died again. Take Lazarus for example, we read about him in John 11.

4. Jesus was in another town when Lazarus died in Bethany. In John 11:11 Jesus tells his disciples that Lazarus is sleeping. He was talking figuratively about death. Disciples thought it was a natural 8-hour sleep from which he would wake up. So He said he is dead (John 11:13-14).

5. When Jesus arrived in Bethany, it seems the family believed that If Jesus had been there, he would not have died (John 11: 21). Now even that is quite remarkable. Moreover, his sister believed that Jesus could do something about it, though she did not know how soon (John 11:22-24)

6. It is at this point that Jesus gives one of the most important promises about resurrection in John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

7. So, in part II of these studies we had seen that Jesus brought life and immortality to light (2 Timothy 1:10), now here we see the path God has designed to attain immortality. By simply believing in Jesus Christ. So even though the fall brought death, Christ guarantees resurrection.

8. Jesus resurrected Lazarus that day (John 11:43).After 4 days, the sister was worried that Lazarus had begun to smell but Jesus confirmed that believing was the only thing she needed to see the glory of God(John 11:39-40). His resurrection was undeniable months later (John 12:9-11)
