Creation and Redemption-II
Description
Preacher: Albert Sinyigaya | Series: Creation and Redemption
This teaching is the second in a series on creation and redemption series. It follows the first in these series and starts to look into the consequences of the fall. What we had before the fall, what we lost in the fall, and what Christ came to reveal we can have in redemption. It is a comprehensive teaching on the fall, sin, redemption, and glory.
CHANGES AFTER THE FALL
- As we prepare for Advent and Christmas, we started Creation and Redemption studies. Last week we saw that the fall was the time "sin entered the world"- Romans 5:12. This was a defining moment that changed the world as it was created.
- So, what changed after the fall?
PRE-FALL
- All creation was good
- Imago Dei – Fellowship
- Work
- Dominion
- Holy Family
POST-FALL
-Sin and death
-Work is sweat
-Dominion corrupted
-Fellowship broken
-Loss of trust relationships
-Atonement prophesied
-Satan's crush prophesied
- Though there are many consequences of the fall, the most important that God had warned Adam about was death. Which also means that the most important promise of redemption is resurrection from the dead.
- Death came through the sin of first Adam. Resurrection came through Jesus. Death remains a mystery up to now despite advances in technology and medicine.
- A certain man by the name of Hal Finney, who is assumed to be one of the founders of Bitcoin requested his body to be cryopreserved after death in Arizona. He hoped to "rise" and see Bitcoin triumph.
- While we will spend weeks and months exploring the pre-fall and post-fall realities, we should not lose sight of how important death and resurrection are in these studies. When God warned Adam not to eat of the tree, he did not say "you will lose dominion" though that happened.
- Yes, man did lose dominion in the fall. Yes, his relationship with Eve shifted into a blame-game. Relationships went bad, their son Cain killed his brother Abel. Yes, work became a hustle and sweat and pain. But ultimately, the worst of all, death became a reality of humanity.
- This is why the coming of the Lord Jesus and His resurrection offer such great hope to mankind. "It has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."- 2 Timothy 1:10
